The books are *amazing*. I'm looking forward to seeing the movie as well, but still highly, highly recommend the books. They're brilliantly written for a young audience, because they appeal both to the reluctant readers (in tone and writing style) and to the advanced readers (in that the kids who are already on top of Greek mythology are probably one step ahead of the characters -- which is part of the fun!). So much love for Percy. :)

I have mixed feelings about Alice. I've never liked the story, not even when I was a kid, yet the special effects look awesome. I'll have to think on it.

I've become interested in the movie. Just have to find time to see it. Also I can't wait for Alice in Wonderland with Johnny Depp. Which is weird because I've never been an Alice fan. (I've read the book, seen Disney's version, and just recently saw the revamped Sci-fi version...all on a concept I don't like very well - yes, I'm weird.)

There are five books, and they look really interesting. I think I'll be checking them out. I've read movie reviews complaining about the age change (in the books he's 12, he looks about 15 in the movie), and how they don't use enough of what happened in the books (a common complaint in books to movies). As a never having read the book person, I LOVED the movie. Yes, they could have done more with it, but it was still pretty great!
