Thank you for the reminder. My husband is a vet, as is his father. I always found it hard to say "Happy Memorial Day," because what is happy about men and women that have died? My mother-in-law suggested "Blessed Memorial Day," which I like. Sounds more appropriate.

Thank you for your time in service. And that you for the wonderful post.

Growing up, every year we went to our hometown's parade and watched them proudly walk... after we would go to my father's firehouse and watch the ceremony they had adding flowers and names to the Memorial stone... even as a kid I understood how important that ceremony was and admit that since moving away I hope they keep that tradition!

You know what's really sad - when I was a kid EVERYONE went to parades and thanked those who served. What has happened to this country? All military personnel and their families deserve thanks and respect.
